World Journeys Podcast Episode Six - with Andrew Higgins

Recorded in Ueno Park, Ueno, Tokyo, the sixth episode of the World Journeys Podcast includes not one but TWO Andrews! Fighting off crows and temple gongs, this podcast is a great listen.
Andrew Higgins talks to me (Andrew Boland) about his two years thus far in Japan. Andrew loves Akihabara, he's even visited a Maid Cafe - so find out what that was like! Andrew also talks about an 'ugly' foreigner, you know the kind of person - giving foreigners a bad name wherever he goes!
Andrew chats a little about elementary school teaching as well, shares a number of great stories and we do have a great laugh! So, don't hesitate, take a listen!

And don't forget - you can subscribe on itunes to the World Journeys Podcast here -
Next Friday sees the final episode in the first bracket of seven episodes for the podcast. I chat to Michael Woolhouse about being home in Australia after 2 years in Japan, but the main focus of the podcast is Brazil 2014 - Michael is heading there to support the Australian football (soccer) side the 'Socceroos' in the World Cup in just over two weeks. That's NEXT Friday on the World Journeys Podcast - May the journey never end!

World Journeys Podcast Episode Five with Kamillah Harris

It is with great pleasure that I present this week’s podcast. It’s been slow to start but I feel this and next week’s episodes are the best so far. Today’s podcast features Kamillah Harris. I recorded it two weeks back on a beautiful sunny day in Yoyogi Park, Harajuku, Tokyo. Kamillah is from Jamaica and we chat about life in Japan and teaching in Japan, but we also talk a bit about Jamaica too, the beaches, the highlights of this wonderful island where Kamillah hails from.

This was probably the most fun I have had doing the podcast – Kamillah has a great sense of humour (and a great laugh), AND she is the first person to take up the ‘Capital City Challenge’. What’s that? Well, you’ll have to listen all the way to the end to find out. Please do take a listen to the podcast, and don’t forget that you can subscribe on Itunes here –

World Journeys Podcast Episode 3 with Maxime Savard

Join the podcast today with special guest Maxime Savard. Maxime has been living in Japan for over eight years now, and was living on the Tohoku coast on the 11th of March, 2011 when the Great Tohoku Earthquake hit. In the podcast we talk about his experiences after the earthquake and what it was like on Japan’s scariest day more than three years ago now.

Maxime sings it up at Karaoke! No singing on the podcast sadly! :(

World Journeys Podcast Episode 2 - with Dean H. Rueztler

Today’s podcast continues with our look at living in Japan as a foreigner and today’s guest is the charismatic Dean H. Rueztler, a veteran here in teaching English. Dean talks about his time living in Japan, the things that annoy him about Japan, and the things he loves – especially snow sports. We also talk a little about Maid Cafes and hostess bars (don’t worry, nothing above a PG rating!) and Dean’s time living in Finland. Dean’s a great character, making this podcast a great listen!

World Journeys Podcast Episode One

Howdy all! Yes, it has finally arrived! The World Journeys Podcast!

Michael Eastwood - our very first guest!
I, your humble host, Andrew Boland, will be interviewing and chatting with a number of people this year about travel-related topics, the best of countries, the worst of countries, backpacking, taking a show overseas, the experience of living in another country and so much more.
The topic or theme of 'travel' is a wide one and there are so many possibilities, so please join me as I begin this new adventure, my first ever podcast. Podcasts aim to be between 25 and 40 minutes.

The first mini-series of 6 episodes features a range of interviews I have and will conduct with people here in Japan, and focuses mainly on living, working and teaching in Japan. I have a great line up of people with various experiences in Japan, and it's a really good look at expat life in North Asia (principally).

Episode One is an interview with Michael Eastwood, who has spent the last eight years living in Japan teaching initially for the JET program and subsequently for a company called Joy Talk. We talk about the different companies and pros and cons, and about the JET program. We talk about the highlights of living here in Japan, about the food and about the people. It's a great listen and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did when I recorded it. It goes for about 30 minutes.

So without further ado - Series One, Episode One is here!
